Mangalore : Mixer grinders worth around 5 Lakhs were seized at Mangalore Central Railway station by commercial  tax officers on April 23. officers found the consignment lying in railway flatform unclaimed. There is no document attached to the consignment. The goods were found by the commercial tax officers on routine inspection.

There were total of 162 grinders  in 27 containers. The total value is in the range of 4.5 to 5 lakhs. Mr. Mahamood Khan, the assistant commissioner of commercial tax dept declared that there is no claimants’ and sources of consignment is not known.

The sources said that it maight have  been brought for the purpose of distributions for the forthcoming elections or part of regular tax evasion racket operating in the state. Officials are continuing the investigation.
