Mangalore :  Commissioner of Central Excise and Service Tax, Mangalore Dr M Subramanyam advised all tax payers who have not paid their servise taxes for the last five year or more, to settle their dues immediately on or before December 31st,2013.

He was addressing the members of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Friday.

The Commissioner told the defaulting members of the KCCI that the scheme to pay all their dues of service taxes started from May this year and would end on December 31. Such a scheme is hard to come by and all those who have failed to respond so far will not be penalized or punished other wise if they made good their balance payments are made before the scheme expires at the end of 2013.

He  haded that those who are paying their dues of service taxes pending from 2007 to 2013 had to pay 50 percent immediately without interest or penalty. The balance 50perecent should be paid without interest by June 2014, and with interest if they pay by the end of 2014.

KCCI vice-president Nigam Vasani, treasurer Ganesh Bhat, M Jagannath Kamath and others were present.
