Mangaluru : The Phone-in programme successfully completes its 25th programme on January 27, Friday, said Police Commissioner M Chandra Shekhar.
On August 5th Mangaluru City Police Commissioner launched the Phone-in programme at his office, so far a total of 373 out of the 403 phone calls (92.5 %) received has found a solution.
Speaking to reporters he said 10 complaints,Giving split-up figures of the calls, he said that 251 (65%) calls related to traffic management, 52 (13%) belonged to law and order, 56 (14%) were connected with issues concerning other departments, and 34 (8%) which were directly disposed off, he said
Most of the complaints were related to the law and order and traffic. We have received 261 complaints related to traffic, 52 complaints related to law and order, 56 complaints related to other departments and 34 complaints which were directly solved.45% were those related to parking issues, 22 % were bus related issues, 17% over speeding cases and 14% of the calls were related to other traffic issues.
The Commissioner also stated that 48,464 cases were registered under the commissionerate, and fine of Rs 3 9,07,600 was collected. Under law and order, 52 calls were registered. Under this shead, 3,866 cases were registered, and Rs 3,79,820 was collected in the form of fine. In addition, 321 accused were arrested, the commissioner narrated.
The Commissioner thanked people for the success of the programme and requested them to call on 0824-2220801 or 0824-2220830 every Friday from 10 am to 11 am in case they have any grievance.
DCP (Law and Order) K M Shantharaju and DCP (Traffic) Sanjeeva Patil were also present at the press meet.
