Mangalore: A state-wide agitation has been proposed by CPI Committee for undivided DK dt. against price rice on essential commodities and corruption in political field at national/regional levels.
The CPI felt that commo9n people found it extremely difficult to live everyday with soaring prices in markets for petroleum products foodgrains covered by PDS and ever vegetables.
A public procession was taken out at 4pm from the Central market area in the city to the DCO gates on Friday to focus administrative attention on essential items needed to live by working people.
P.Sanjeeva, secretary of CPI in DK –Udupi and member of the state committee spoke on the occasion.
He accused BJP of devastating common people in state after winning elections on a sympathy wave. The ruling party, (BJP), he remarked, went on to spoil the basic system of democracy through the state elections by bribing voters and making illegal income out of mining and other waves.
The Congress in UPA at the Centre and the BJP in South India have created history by establishing political corruption for their survival. Their inability to control the market prices of essential goods, and making them available only to those who can afford to pay more money on daily needs, has brought about a dire situation for working classes to limit their meager incomes on expenses, by skipping meals or eating alternate cheaper food items, P.Sanjeeva stated. Common people are burning in hunger these days, due to anti-people attitudes cultivated by both parties in state and the Centre, which CPI opposes tooth and nail, he roared.
The huge protest rally was attended and led by B.Vishwanath Naik, B.Shekhar, V.S.Berinje, D.Henry Lobo, Kusuma Veeramma, Sujatha, Usha Karunakara, sarojini, Umvathi and many others. The speakers at the rally attacked mismanaged P.D.system.
