Mangalore, Jan 13, 2012: The young people were seen dancing to the dancing to the tune of folk songs colorfully dressed and waiting for their numbers to perform at the folk dance competition at TMA Pai Convention Centre on Jan 13, Friday.
The participants of West Bengal made the audience spellbound with the Chhau Dance, a folk dance of their state, which is being performed during Durga Pooja in West Bengal.
The participants of Uttarkhand team performed the Ran Bhoot Nritya illustrating the religious beliefs of the native people.
The Mizoram team also performed the Solakya, illustrating the culture of the tribes in their region.
While the participants from Bihar performed the Kajari dance, when the rainy season sets in, the dry land gets wet with rain drops and everywhere green colours have been poured down by nature. the season inspires the women of Bihar to sing and dance with lyrics of kajari.
Folk dances from various states of the country like Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Maharastra, Haryana, Meghalaya and Sikkim will be performing in the venue in the afternoon session and other days.
