Mysore : Responding to more than 60 complaints received from citizens residing around the RTO East Office on Dr. Rajkumar Road in Kalyangiri, officials of the MCC Zone-9, led by Assistant Commissioner H. Ravikumar, this morning demolished three of the 34 petty shops, which were operating in the area as the rest of the shops were voluntarily vacated by the owners.
It is reported that the residents of the area had even lodged complaints with Lokayukta, alleging that the customers visiting these shops were creating nuisance, besides indulging in eve-teasing, which had inconvenienced the residents.
The MCC officials, who arrived at the spot along with excavators and Udayagiri Police Inspector Srikanth, cleared the area. It is said that only vendors using push-carts and autos were authorised to sell their wares around the RTO office, which had been continuously violated by petty shop-owners.
It is also said that the Assistant Commissioner Ravikumar had urged these petty shop owners to vacate the area yesterday also.
MCC Junior Engineer S.S. Aradhya and others took part in the demolishing operation.
