Mysore: “It is certain that the UPA-3 will form the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections,” said MP H. Vishwanath.
He was speaking to reporters during a padayatra organised by Krishnaraja Block Congress Committee in city this morning.
“The Congress party will seek votes by enlightening the public on the pro-people programmes announced by the party and implemented by State Government led by CM Siddharamaiah and 10 years of UPA rule at Centre. With people being enlightened about the programmes, UPA-3 will form the Government at the Centre, he said.
Reacting on Modi wave, Vishwanath said that it was only an assumption and no such wave exists. “Modi has not done anything for the upliftment of poor and common man. He has always safeguarded the interests of the investors and industrialists. Modi speaks about development and achievements of his government, but Gujarat is placed 18th when it comes to development in the country. A person who has not implemented programmes to bring poor to the mainstream will not become the Prime Minister of the country,” said Vishwanath.
He also mentioned that Congress party was committed to make India a hunger-free country through the Food Security Act and root out corruption through Lokpal Bill. Vishwanath said that Government in the State has implemented Anna Bhagya scheme to provide sufficient food for the poor. “Our programmes are not focused on single caste but are announced to benefit all.”
Congress activists were seen actively participating in the padayatra holding party flags. Vishwanath began his padayatra by offering puja at Chamundeshwari temple at Chamundi Vana in Vidyaranyapuram. The padayatra passed through Subramanya temple, Silk Factory, Ambedkar Road, Ashokapuram 1st cross, Kamsale Mahadevaiah Circle, Kanakagiri, Chamundipuram, Nanjumalige Circle, 101 Ganesha Temple, Agrahara, Siddappa Square, Sunnadakeri, Shantala Talkies and culminated at Ramaswamy Circle.
