Mangalore: The District Congress Committee led by Ivan D’Souza staged a protest in front of the Passport office of Mangalore at Kodialbail protesting against the several discrepancies in the office.
The protestors demanded better facilities in the office and also that it be shifted to any other ideal location instead of Kodialbail. Addressing the agitators, Ivan D’Souza said the office lacked basic amenities for the people visiting the office and added applicants had to wait for hours. He also alleged that the passport office staff were incompetent and said the office be shifted to Taluk office or DC office premises. Ivan said a memorandum would also be forwarded to Union External Affairs Minister M Krishna.
There was a minor altercation when the protestors tried to barge into the office and were prevented. Finally the officials themselves arrived and spoke to the agitators.
Among those who took part in the protest included Shashidhar Hegde, Ashraf, Gretta Rebello and TK Sudhir.
