New Delhi: The UPA govt, will not hide any facts from the pro-active Supreme Court, which took up supervision of the enquiry into the scandal of 2G spectrum auction sales causing over 1.75 lakh crores of rupees loss to the Central Treasury by UPA Govt, especially A. Raja, Telecom Minister who resigned on PM’s directions, Law and Justice Minister, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily conceded on Thursday.
Moily was happy for the intervention of a Bench of the Supreme Court in view of the opposition holding up Parliament, demanding an enquiry by Joint Parliamentary Committee, for 3 weeks. He added that the Union Govt had desired such an overseeing role for the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, BJP which did not allow Parliament to function for a whole session, has welcomed Supreme Court overseeing the 2 G spectrum investigations in the interest of Indian taxpayers.
However, Rajeev Pratap Roody, BJP spokesman, also stated that his party still insists on a JPC enquiry into the mega scandal. He added that the Supreme Court directing the CBI to conduct enquiries from 2001 itself upto 2008 had not embarrassed BJP, which on the other hand, has demanded the entire enquiry to begin from 1998 itself, Roody stated.
The Supreme Court direction has brought fresh air into the stale issues taking form as ugly scandals on a national scale. It is hoped the report will be given on proper time and debated upon in Parliament in the New Year.
