Kasaragod : The police had resorted a lathi charge to control clash between the activists of the Congress and the CPI (M) party on Tuesday midnight over a minor issue at Mangad in Kasaragod district.
The police fired as many as 16 tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. SP A Srinivas, Police from Bekal and Kasargod stations rushed to the spot.
Security has been tightened in Mangad region following reason. Three persons including Bekal police ASI Anantakrishna, Congress worker Abdul Rahiman and CPI (M) worker Sudhakar were injured in the clash and have been admitted to hospital.
It is said, stones were pelted at a Madrasa and at vehicles and shops. Police from Bekal and Kasargod stations rushed to the spot then fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
Both Congress and CPI (M) have registered cases against each other.
