Mangalore : In spite of the prohibitory orders clamped on the city, the members of Congress party staged protest in front of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) office on July 29, Sunday against the attack students at Morning Mist Home Stay.
Although the police clamped section 144, which avoided holding protest, the congress members along with Youth Congress leaders Mithun Rai and Praveenchandra Alva; Congress leader Bondala Jagannath Shetty; and Ivan D’Souza shouted slogans against the Hindu outfit loudly after agreeing to withdraw their protest.
To control the situation, the Barke police around with additional personnel’s and rounded them up and arrested over 50 Congress members and used lathis to disperse the mob.
Around 25 police officers were required to bring things under control.
