Belgaum: Shanker Munavalli, a Congress leader from Belgaum has filed Public interest Litigation in the High Court seeking that corrupt people who have become MLAs and ministers in return for cash be barred from casting vote in MLC polls. The plea has also demanded a CBI probe into the case wherein MLAs have been reportedly granted cash to defect to the BJP as part of Operation Kamala. Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda and 12 others including MLAs and Ministers have been named respondents in this case.
The petitioner has demanded that a probe should be ordered against former CM Yeddyurappa, the then BJP State Chief Sadananda Gowda, MLAs Janardhan Reddy, and others.
The petitioner has also pleaded that several top officials including the Union Home Secretary, Principal Secretary of State Government and State Election Commissioner should be subject to enquiry.
