Mangalore : Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ivan D’Souza, said that the Congress will hold protest against the incompletion of the new Bejai Market.
Speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on April 19 Thursday, he said that the construction of the Bejai market began in the year 2003 – 04 with the contract to be completed within five years at the cost of Rs. 6 crore. But still the market is under construction.
He also said that, the vendors are conducting their business on the roadside from eight years but the market has not yet been released to the public.
The construction of the market will now cost more than Rs. 15 crore, instead of giving at the amount of Rs. 6 crore due to delay.
Commenting on the passport office, he said that it lacks several facilities, forcing people to wait in long queues in front of it, without having proper parking and drinking water facilities. Further, the Congress will hold protest in front of the office if problems are not solved.
Praveen Chandra Alva, the president of the Youth Congress, and Corporator B. Nagendra were present at the press meet.
