Mangalore : A DK District Congress Legal and Human Rights Cell delegation led by its President AC Vinayraj submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, to be forwarded to Governor Hamsraj Bharadwaj seeking early appointment of a Lokayukta and Chairman of State Human Rights Commission.
The memorandum made a plea to the governor to exercise his suo moto powers to make appointment to the two posts if the government fails to consider the demand.
The memorandum said the Lokayukta post is lying vacant since over one year and the government has shown no interest in appointing a Lokayukta which can curb corruption though the BJP leaders have been giving lengthy speeches against corruption.
It also said that the absence of a chairman for the Human Rights Commission too has inconvenienced many who have faced human rights violation.Kallige Taranath Shetty and other office bearers of the Cell were part of the Congress delegation.
