Mangaluru : The DK District Congress Committee staged a protest against the heinous act of  Hindu Mahasabha activists to recreate the Mahatma Gandhi assassination scene on Martyr’s Day.

Activist staged protest in front of the party office at Mallikatta on February 4, Monday.

MLC Ivan D Souza ondemned the recent enactment by Hindu Mahasabha leaders of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi at Aligarh.

He told reporters here that the act by Hindu Mahasabha leadership led by Pooja Shakun Pandey, national secretary, in shooting the effigy of Mahatma Gandhi the and silence of PM Narendra Modi on this incident are baffling.

Seeking arrest of all those involved in this act, he said Gandhiji is seen as identity of every Indian, who abroad are recognised as people coming from the land of the Mahatma and such an act is unpardonable, he noted.

Former minister Ramanatha Rai, DCC President and MLC  Harish Kumar, MLC and Parliamentary Secretary Ivan D’Souza, Chief Whip of MCC Shashidhar Hegde, Corporator Appi, Ibrahim Kodijal, Mamatha Gatti, former mayor Kavitha Sanil and others participated in the protest.
