Bangalore: Terming the criticism of the Lokayukta by both the BJP and JD(S) as an attempt to “demoralise” and “demolish” the institution, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar threatened to launch a state-wide agitation against the two parties.
Speaking on the occasion of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary here on Monday, he claimed that two leaders have arrived at an understanding to hamper the Lokayukta. He urged the BJP leaders to stop attacking the investigative agency. “The statements of the BJP leaders have demonstrated their double-standards on the fight against corruption,” Parameshwar said.
The KPCC president said that they were interfering in the functioning of the police officials in their investigation.
He said that CM D V Sadananda Gowda, in his 100-days in office, had wasted 80 days to secure a safe passage for his mentor B S Yeddyurappa who was jailed on corruption charges. “Development initiatives have been hit hard.”
