Mangaluru: Congress leaders have begun influencing NRIs by holding pre-election campaigns in Saudi Arabia, even as election campaign in Dakshina Kannada is yet to pick up.

A mega Congress Convention by the Youth Congress NRI Cell to unite party men ahead of the Assembly elections was held at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia recently.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs U T Khader inaugurated the convention was held at Impala Garden of Sharafiya, Jeddah, in the presence of Mangaluru North Assembly constituency MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava and other leaders. On Saturday, another programme was held at Zubail attracting a good number of people.

Many photographs and Videos of the programme have been shared on social media. “Mohiuddin Bava in Jeddah. Be there to support our dynamic leader…” was the slogan printed on one of the posters of Mohiuddin Bava.

Minister Khader said that in the future there are plans to open a Congress NRI Cell in Jeddah after obtaining permission from the AICC and KPCC. “It was the youth hailing from the coastal districts, who convened the meetings at Jeddah,” he added.
