DK Women’s Congress Committee members staged a protest on Saturday near DCO gates, against aggressive BJP policies in the state. Former ZP Chairperson, Mamtha gatti accused CM of conspiring against farmers behind their backs, not leaving the poor either.
Criticizing the Energy minister Shobha for increase in power rates, she said this hike was not at all necessary. It is an extra burden on the common housewives. A state wide protest will be held against such hikes daily needs without reducing VAT and cess on petroleum products.
BJP Govt. has not been pro-poor, she accused. In Congress-led states, rates have been down with the state cess reduced, but not in BJP ruled state, Gatti observed.
The VAT here on petroleum products at 14%, was the highest in India. KSRTC bus fares were raised. Auto fares are going up. Was this necessary, she asked pointedly.
Women leaders Shalet Pinto, Hilda Alva Anita Hemant and Emilda Pinto were present in the gathering.
