Mangalore Nov : The District Congress Women’s Wing staged a protest demanding better facilities to the poor at the Lady Goschen Hospital on Nov 7, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, District Congress Women’s Wing president Mamatha Gatty said that the hospital is located in the heart of the city, hence most of the poor people come for treatment here, but they are not given the required treatment, she said.
She also said that the hospital building has been demolished in April and two years passed after lying the foundation for the new building, but no development has taken up till date.
The minister’s including Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat had given good pose for the photo during the foundation stone ceremony of the hospital and now all are keeping silent.
The congress party under the National Congress Abhiyan has taken up many developmental projects and work for the women, but BJP government, just publicized the Bhagyalakshmi scheme throughout the tenure without benefiting any beneficiaries.
She said that most of the poor people from rural places come to Lady Goschen Hospital, so they do not care them.
KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza said that the hospital do not have the bed facilities for all the patients. The congress members during Sonia Gandhi’s visit to city had distributed fruits to 250 patients, but there are only 140 beds, he said.
BJP is not the party for the poor. Deputy Speaker must resign from the post, he said.
Congress members like Kripa Alva, Shalet, Pinto, Vrinda, Zohra Nissar, Clara D’Souza, Yashawanthi Alva, Vijayalakshmi, Jospin, Nagendra, Padmanabha Naringana and others were present.
