Mangalore : Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, inaugurated the valedictory of the centenary celebrations of the consecration of the Holy Cross Church in Kulshekar was held grandly on the premises of the church in Feb 18 Saturday.
Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza as the chief celebrant and Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, the bishop of Shimoga, concelebrated the event.
Speaking at the formal stage programme, Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat appreciated the the people of Cordel parish for their services and also lauded the achievements of the church school, which has secured 100 percent results.
Justice B. V. Pinto released the book ‘Frad Saib’ authored by Fr. Devadutta Kamath, while IGP Prathap Reddy released the directory Cordel 100 on the occasion.
Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St. Aloysius College, and Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, the rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, were honored on this occasion. Fr. Valerian D’Souza, Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, and Fr. Gregory William Vas, the former parish priests of Cordel, along with Fr. Valerian Pinto, its present parish priest, were also honoured on the occasion.
The dignitaries on the dais were the two bishops, High court judge Justice B. V. Pinto, Pratap Reddy, the IGP of Western Range, Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Cordel Church, Praveen Patrao, the vice president; George D’Souza, the secretary; and Sushil Noronha, the convener of the jubilee celebration committee.
