Mangalore: The geographical Area of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi is around 8, 44, 100 Hector and 2, 67, 654 Hector of cultivation Area is available and the developmental work for the vented dam and Salt Water Exclusion Dam needs the amount of Rs 374.56 crore, said MLA Yogesh Bhat.
He was speaking at the press meet held at District BJP office on Septe4mber 25, Saturday. He also said that, this project has been handed over the chief engineer of Small irrigation (South), Bangalore. Further he also urged the central government to release the special fund under the central government schemes for the completion of the project.
Mr Bhat also said that, the coastal region has 13 rivers flowing towards the west direction and around 200 TMC of water is flowing to the sea. Hence he directed the plan to construct the small vented dams to control this water getting wasted in order to use it during the summer season. This project will cost around Rs 295 crore.
If this project will be fulfill, the drinking water scarcity in the twin districts will drastically decrease, he said.
