Mangalore : Former Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde said, that it is not possible to eradicate Corruption from the grass root level but can be reduced. Earlier there were only thousand of corruption cases found in state but today it has reached to crores.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Forum for Justice Mangalore at Town Hall on September 6, Saturday.
He also said that the main reason behind the corruption menace is lack of humanity and increased greed.
Hegde also said that political parties and officers in the state plan to weaken the Lokayuta act. The present state government has also prepared a draft on this hence the people of the state must not allow them to implement it because Lokayukta is a powerful institution and state government is trying to fool the people with fake assurance.
Ravindranath Shanbhag of Human Rights Protection Foundation said that Forum must be clear with its objectives and methodology while initiating its fight against corruption. There is also necessary to learn the various corruption campaigns took place from the past several years.
He also cited various cases including Jyostna Bakery at Manipal and Akku Leela, in which he struggled a lot against corruption by using the proper methodology.
Further corruption can be solved with demonstration using proper methodology.
Forum for Justice Mangalore convener Dayanath Kotian, said that the forum from six months has been fighting against corruption and has achieved success in the coming days it will turn it into a mass campaign.
