Mangalore: Members of the KMF Dairy Contract Labourers Association affiliated to the Bharatiya Mazdur Sangha (BMS) protested in front of the MF office on November 7, Wednesday demanding timely payment of their salary. Speaking on the occasion, Vishwanath Shetty, President of BMS said the workers were not only getting low wages but were not paid on time and were finding it difficult to eke out a living.
A demand was placed forth to increase the salary of the contract labourers to Rs 9000. He also said that the contractor who had promised higher pay, was missing. The workers also demanded provision of uniform and show. Over 300 contract workers took part in the protest.
