Mangalore : Police investigation into the case of a suspicious death of Savitha (28), daughter of Narayana Poojari of Venur, has revealed that it was a case of murder.
Savitha was found dead in a well near her house in Urudelu village in Belthangady earlier this month. It is learnt that Savitha had an affair with her elder sister Sharada’s husband Umesh Poojari and this might have led to the murder. The accused in the case Umesh Poojari had been arrested on September 16 who is learnt to have revealed during interrogation that he had pushed her into the well. It is learnt, he had an affair with Savitha even before he married Sharada. However, it is learnt,he was agitated as Savitha was pressing him to marry her after abandoning her sister.
The SP also said that jewellery worth Rs 1.4 lakh belonging to Savitha which was taken by Umesh along with a cash of Rs 30,000 has been recovered.
