Mangaluru: The CCB police have nabbed two people in connection with the shootout incident that was reported in Mulki few days ago. Police have also recovered two pistols and seven live bullets from the accused and seized two mobile phones.
Informing the same to media persons here on Thursday, the city Police Commissioner T R Suresh said that the arrested are Manoj alias Manju, a resident of Chitrapu in Mulki and Kapikad Chandrashekar alias Tikki Annu from Pakshikere.
It may be recalled that miscreants had opened fire at Sri Rajashree jewellers at Kinnigoli in Mulki police station limits on December 7, around 8 pm. On the following day, miscreants had opened fire at M Sanjeeva Shetty textile shop in Car Street in the city around 8 pm and injured a staff.
The police commissioner said that the duo were involved in both the incidents and they had also opened fire at a residence belonging to Nagaraj in Mulki on December 23.
Stating that Manoj is in direct link with the underworld don Kali Yogish, the top cop said that the shooting incidents were carried following the instructions from the don.
Police suspect that the duo might have been involved in many more crimes and further investigations are underway.
The raid was led by CCB Inspector Shantharam and the police team comprised sub-inspector Shyam Sunder, ASI Harish and constables Rama Poojary, Ganesh, Chandrashekar, Sheenappa, Chandra, Subramanya, Chandrahas, Yogish, Rajendra Prasad, Abdul Jabbar, Mani, Prashanth Shetty, Ashith D’Souza, Tejkumar and Rithesh.
The case has been handed over to Mulki police.
