Mangalore: The office of the JCG Associates Manpower Recruiters near State Bank was sealed by the Pandeshwar police on the charges of cheating Gulf job aspirants, on May 7, Monday.
Acting on a complaint by some of those who have been cheated, a police team led by the Pandeshwar SI Bharathi arrived at the office and sealed it. It is learnt, the owner of the firm Canute D’Souza was away during the raid.
Reports say that Canute had duped as many as 47 job aspirants after collecting from them amount which ranged from Rs 5000 to Rs 50,000. The complaint was lodged when the aspirants’ wait for a job proved futile even after paying large sums to the recruiter.
Several people including Harish Kumar from Kuttettur, Staney Dinesh of Kuttar, and Pradeep from Karwar Mohandas from Krishnapur are learnt to have lost their money.
It may be recalled here that the firm owner along with one of his associates had been arrested once in 2010 on similar charges of cheating over a hundred job aspirants after promising them visas.
