Mangalore : In a shocking incident two head constables who were sent to Alake near Kudroli area in Mangalore on May 26, Sunday night, following a complaint that some drunken people were disturbing peace, were themselves beaten up.
It is learnt head constables Damodar and Ishwar Swamy from Bunder police station were sent to the area after the police control room received a call at around 1.10 am that some drunken men were disrupting peace. When the two cops arrived in the PCR vehicle and enquired, the group rebuked them, snatched their lathi and thrashed them. First it was Damodar who fell victim and when Ishwar rushed to his help even he was thrashed. The mob later fled in two cars.
The cops have been hospitalised and have said they can identify the assailants if an identifications parade is held. Police have said the accused will soon be arrested.
