Mangalore: India is famous for its innumerable cottage industries worked at homes by villagers guided by the Govt. of India at the center through Khaadi and village industries Emporium as well as cottage industries Corporation to develop age-old handicrafts and other products to give employment to poor villagers to make an honorable living, wherever they be.
The cottage industries corporation opened such an exhibition of village industries and cottager products from all over India and many States such as Assam, Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan or Kerala and Tamil Nadu, at woodlands Hotel in city on Friday morning.
Hotel owner Y. Ramesh Bhatt inaugurated the show amidst popular excitement and curious buyers, and stated that the coastal area people had a duty to protect and preserve, also develop rural handicaps and cottage industry that created a wealth of products all over India for local markets.
Ms. Iniyath Shah precedent of cottage industry corporation speaking next, said that she hoped that the port city of Mangalore which was a beautiful place to living and attracted large number of small scale industry in its estates for long years would not fail to help the producers of cottage industries coming from various parts of India with their products on sale, to go in to the homes of local buyers and thus give them a beneficial hand to produce more goods and handicrafts.
The CIC Expo is likely to continue for a few weeks at the venue where it opened on Friday.
