Mangalore : Just a few hours are left for counting of votes polled in the May 5 assembly elections. Tight security has been maintained at the poll counting centres namely Canara College, Canara PU College in Mangalore and TA Pai English Medium School, Kunjibettu where the Electronic Voting Machines are securely placed.
Counting of votes exercised in Mangalore, Mangalore South, Mangalore North, Belthangady, Bantwal and Moodbidri constituencies will be held at Canara College from 8 am onwards on May 8 while counting of votes of Puttur and Sullia will be held at Canara Pre-University College.
The officials and agents have been asked to be present at the centres by 7.30 am. One agent of each candidate will be allowed inside and they will not be allowed to use mobile phones.
Each constituency will have fourteen tables and one supervisor, counting assistant, micro observer and a ‘D’group employee.
In Udupi, counting will be held at TA Pai English Medium School, Kunjibettu. Security has been stepped up outside the counting centres.
