Kaup :  A couple were burnt alive in their house at Katapady Beedu in Pangala on August 6, Tuesday morning. Those who died are Vijaya Shetty and Chandrika Shetty. It is not yet clear if it was a suicide or an accidental fire that claimed their lives.

The deceased Vijaya Shetty was a supervisor of Navayug Constructions. The couple has a young daughter who is doing her PUC. The incident was noticed on Tuesday morning and locals informed the fire personnel. By the time the couple were charred to death.

Udupi District Minister Vinaykumar Sorake and former Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon visited the house.

Kaup police are investigating.
