Mangaluru : A couple committed suicide by writing a death note and calling to Mangalore police commissioner at the Rehja apartment in Kulai Chitrapuram on Tuesday early morning.
A couple hailing from Baikampady has ended their lives by hanging themselves out of fear of Covid infection.
The deceased are Ramesh Suvarna (45) and Guna Suvarna. Incidentally Ramesh Suvarna had sent a voice message to the City Police Commissioner before the two ended their lives. The Commissioner had immediately responded asking them not to take a hasty decision. He had also sent voice message in media group to trace and rescue the couple. The police team had reached the couple’s apartment at Baikampady within 20 minutes. But by then the couple had ended their lives.
Guna Suvarna has left behind a death note mentioning her health issues, that she was suffering from diabetes, black fungus and sugar control was not possible despite taking two insulin injections daily. She had also expressed her pains over being issueless and also of the death of their child once within 13 days of birth.
They also kept one lakh for their last rites and said my husband and I decided that the Hindu organization Sharan Pump Well and Satyajit Suratkal should hold our funeral as Hindu tradition.
The death note also mentioned that both had Covid symptoms since a week and have decided to end lives and also to distribute their belongings to the poor.
