Puttur: Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has passed an order on Thursday, by clearing all the allegations against 21 persons who were charged for hindering policemen from discharging their duties.
A Shanaishwara puja was held at Mahalingeshwara temple nine years ago. It was led by Sri Rama Sene activist Arun Kumar Puttila, on February 3, 2007. On the alleged reason for using microphones without taking prior information during bhajan, police has beaten the people.
A charge sheet was also filed on 21 persons for obstructing duties of seven police men including circle inspector. They are also charged with attempt to murder, delivering inflammatory speech. After the hearing of the case, court has levelled the allegations of murder attempt and delivering inflammatory speech.
Arun Kumar Puttila, Damodar Bhandarkar, Nellikatte Raviprasad Shetty’s names were included in the charge sheet along with others. Ganapathi Shenoy, one of the accused has died during the trial.
