Mangaluru: District sessions court sentenced five murder accused after holding them guilty in the case. Sessions court judge Uma M G stated the order on Monday.
Muhammad Ansar (39), Muhammad Noufal (23), Muhammad Saleem (26), Abdul Basheer (29) and Abdul Naushad (32) are the convicted accused. There were in custody for murdering Siddappa (29) of Kadlamatti in Bhagalkot district. These five are warded with life sentence and additional three years of jail term for destructing the eveidenses and they have fined Rs 10000 each.
Siddappa and his wife Kasturi alias Renuka, had come to Dakshina Kannada insearch of a better livelihood. Here kasturi fell in love with Muhammad Afzal. She used to leave her son at Muhammad’s house, in this excuse she used to visit his home repeatedly. Raged by this Siddappa shared his feelings with some of his close ones.
Angered by the spoiling of her name in public Kasturi planned to get rid of Siddappa. On February 4, 2007, they took Siddappa to Balkurgudde and killed him. After killing him they buried his body.
Siddappa’s younger brother filed a missing complaint at rural police station after Siddappa went missing. Police took Kasturi to their custody and upon interrogating her they come to know the reason behind Siddappa’s disappearance. Based on Kasturi’s statement other accusedwere also arrested.
Kasturi went missing since she had got bail from the court. Police are searching for her. Case still stands against her.
