Byndoor: In this week, 20 cows had died on Wednesday, when a vehicle trying to escape in a hurry overturned in Mangalore killing cattle tied inside, while the driver escaped from Bajrangi clutches.
On Thursday, in another incident, over 25 cows died by consuming poisonous garbage damp as food, in Ottinene which connects Byndoor and Shirur on highway.
The veterinary doctors tried to save these diseased cows but failed to revive them. The dumped waste materials had a bad effect on cows that ate them, the medical officer stated. Hereafter, efforts would be made to prevent such deaths by grazing cows, the doctor informed.
The local residents at Ottinene complained of foul smell emanating from carcass materials of pigs, thrown off by some truck drivers on roadside. The local residents and Zilla Panchayat employees had to bury 15 dead cows and 10 Swines in pits and cover them up.
