Mangalore: Remember the Sowjanya case and death of Padmalata and Vedavalli at Ujire and Dharmasthala? Way back in 1980 till 2013, 475 cases of murder without a proper enquiry or search for the missing girls had taken place and this injustice is confirmed by as many as 352 missing girls and women, as reported by state Govt. itself up to 2013. The CPI-M is the only political party in India or Karnataka that has taken up the issue of so many missing girls or women in an area of Belthangady taluk without any legal report or police search for the missing souls.
The CPI-M held a rally for ‘Dharani-Satyagraha’ to remained the state Govt. of its injustice and state police inaction in regard to so many missing women or girls in just one taluk and that too having a holy temple at Dharmasthala where free meals are offered to devotees at regular intervals day in and day out, in season or out of season. It is difficult to believe that the people of Belthanday taluk are living under the scare of missing women and still continue to send their girls to the Ujire College for graduation even after 475 cases without enquiry or justice are still reported.
K R Shriyan district secretary of CPI-M, speaking to demonstrators near DCO today said that the injustice done to so many families of missing girls including Sowjanya was colossal and could not be believed by anyone outside DK, but in DK only the Sowjanya case of rape and murder of a college student was entrusted to CBI after a lot of pressure was applied on the Ahinda Congress Govt. of CM Siddaramaiha, in Dec.2013, but nothing more has been done even in that case.
Shriyan wanted the two cases of Padmalatha and Vedavalli deaths should be probed together with Sowjanya case by CBI, deeply to nab the culprits and a gang of regular rapists and murderers in hundreds of cases from the last 30 or more years with in Belthangady taluk.
Yadav Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal, G A Balakrishna, Jayanthi Shetty, Babu Devadiga, and Krishnappa Salian attended the Satyagraha for justice to prevail in the criminal cases uncovered so far in DK district. Krishnappa Salian also spoke at the meeting demanding justice for all those who sacrificed their lives at the holy town and Ujire in Belthangady taluk.
