Mangaluru : The central government’s ban on sale of cattle for slaughter will have serious impact on people. Hence, Karnataka government should not implement the ban at any cost, said Communist Party of India (CPI) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district secretary V Kukkian.
He was speaking at a protest meet held near the deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday. He said the central government has been taking dictatorial decisions unilaterally. “They are not aware of the consequences of the rules they introduce. The Prime Minister, who is always on foreign tours, is helping corporate companies. Nation will face a major consequence in the form of a divide if the situation continues unabated,” Kukkian said.
CPI executive committee member H V Rao said that the BJP government is trying to appease majority in the country through ban on sale of cattle. “We can find instances of cattle being used as a food even in ancient mythology. Banning sale of cattle in a country that is dependent mainly on agriculture will have a serious impact in future,” he added.
