Mangalore: The CPI(M) has urged the Pejawar Swamiji Sri Vishwesha Theertha to come and support the ongoing agitation to end the practices of Made Snana and Pankthi Bedha.

Speaking to reporters in Mangalore,  B Madhava, District Secretary of the Party said the agitation would gain strength if the Pejawar see joins the cause. He said the party cannot accept casteist policies like Made Snana and Pankti Bedha and demanded that they be banned.

Madhava further said the party was totally against Made Snana and also against Ede Snana suggested by the Pejawar seer.

He said the Pejawar seer should come forward to participate in the movement and help in prevailing upon the government to ban the two practices.

Party leaders KR Sriyan and Vasanth Achary were also present.
