Mangaluru : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists on Saturday carried out protests against the action of Mangaluru City Corporation in inaugurating the Town Hall and fish markets in Bejai and Jeppu but not allowing it for public use.
The activists said that Town Hall was closed for renovation in September 2014. After frequent extension of deadlines, the Town Hall was hurriedly inaugurated on November 1.
The Town Hall has still not been allowed for public use. By stating of spending Rs. 4.5 crore for renovation, the MCC has proposed hike user charges for the Hall and thus making unaffordable.
The CPI (M) said the fish market at Jeppu was inaugurated without making any arrangements for basic amenities.
The market complex in Bejai was inaugurated when lot many works were pending, the CPI (M) charged. The CPI (M) termed all these inaugurations as an eye-wash.
