Mangaluru: CPI (M) activists staged protests before Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Thursday urging the MCC to resolve drinking water scarcity in city area limits immediately.
As many as 32 CPI(M) activists were detained and later released by the police who picketed the MCC building.
The party activists blamed that the MCC Mayor Kavita Sanil is supporting the water tanker mafia in Mangaluru by creating artificial water scarcity even-if there is enough water storage in Thumbe Vented Dam. DYFI State President Muneer Katipalla, BK Imtiyaz, CPI(M) City district unit Secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal and others were present in the protest organised.
