Kasargod: As many as 250 cases of fake passports were registered in Kasargod and the Kerala government has decided to transfer the case from Internal Security Force to the Crime Branch.
As of now 30 cases have been transferred and the rest would be handed over in the days to come. Police sources opine that most of the cases pertained to people who had joined terrorist groups and hence were a threat to national security; thus the cases were handed over to the Crime Branch for speedy investigation.
Most of the cases were registered in Hosadurga and Ambalathar police station limits. Certain passport centers have also been identified. It is said that several people had already gone to foreign countries using the fake passports and had joined terrorist groups like ISIS and had initiated anti-national activities.
Though there were several accused in these cases, the state police were unable to nab them.
