Mudabidri: From today, a three –day cultural mega event takes place in Mudabidri at Vidyagiri on Ratnakar Varni (a Kannada epic poet) Dais, in Pandit Puttaraj Gawai Auditorium, organised by Alvas Educational Foundation, under the name of Alvas Nudisiri – 2010 invoking Kannada Land and Language richness in a national literary and artistic convention, formed by Dr. A. Mohan Alva, and presided over by Vaidehi, a poetess and writer this year.
The inauguration has been performed by Bangalore poet, writer and critic, Dr. H.S. Venkatesh Murthy by lighting a giant lamp, today. An ear of paddy corn kept in a vessel (Kalasa) was bathed in milk by dignitaries on the occasion, such as MP Nalin Kumar Kateelu, K. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, and K. Amarnath Shetty, former Minister. Vaidchi, general President, made the opening best wishes speech.
In her sixty minute presidential address at Alva’s Nudisiri, she said that Karnataka has a rich culture based on motherhood and goddesses like Saraswathi who stands for music, arts, and education. Vaidehi said that religion needs to be revised and upgraded to reach every common man in these days. When religion reaches all common men in the country, they will become united to defend the nation with their spiritual energy.
Yakshagana performances by Thenkuthittu and Badaguthittu troupes, as also a ‘Bhoota Kola’, were enacted on the stage, holding audience attention spell bound.
Vaidehi called upon Kannadigas not to live in the past but to revive Kannada as a living language capable of re-creating new experiments in literature in all its aspects of proze and poetry.
Thousands of cultural followers of the coast and the state thronged the festival site before inauguration and participated in the proceedings dear to all.
