Mangalore : DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Higher Education CT Ravi has emphasized the need for all educational institutions to have grievance redressal cells in order to enable female staff and students to air their grievance.
Speaking to reporters at Circuit House in Mangalore on December 29, Saturday, he said the grievance cell must meet once a week to look into the grievances and find solution to the same. If needed police complaints should also be lodged, he added.
Continuing, he said there was a need for stringent measures to check crime against women considering the rise in the same and also the brutal gang rape of a para medical student in Delhi.
The minister said a high level meeting of vice chancellors and senior officials of the education department is planned very soon to discuss the issue of radical changes in the education system. He also stressed the need to hold moral and value education lessons in educational institutions at least once a week.
