Mangaluru : Customs Commissionerate, Mangaluru, launched an online customer guide for international passengers on the Customs Department website on Friday.
Launching the portal, Chief commissioner of customs (Bengaluru) R B Tiwari said that Mangaluru International Airport has a passenger facilitation of 96% and 89% passengers are satisfied with customs officials.
The online customer guide for international passengers will be made available in regional languages too, he added.
Commissioner of customs (Mangaluru) Dr M Subramaniam said the portal has been facilitated for the passengers to have a hassle-free custom clearance. With the
new added page on the Customs Department website, it will be possible for the international passengers to be acquainted with baggage rules. It also saves time by preventing deliberations with passengers.
The web page also contains the details of customs procedure, format for customs declaration form, details of free allowances and custom duty for various items, he said.
The web link of online customer guide for international passengers accessed at www.customsmangalore.gov.in/baggage. It can be accessed through mobile phones having internet connection.
Mangaluru Airport Authority director J T Radhakrishna said 58 flights operate in Mangaluru International Airport every week. The number of domestic passengers has crossed 17 lakh in 2015-16 and that of international passengers is seven lakh. The numbers are expected to increase by 10% in the current year, he added.
Tiwari also inaugurated a state-of-the-art scanner. Immigration and Airport Authority officials were also present.
