Mangaluru : The customs officers at Mangalore International Airport seized foreign currencies, totalling 6,600 British Pounds, equivalent to Rs 6,49,440 from two passengers on Wednesday May 20.
The passengers are identified as Muhammed Salih Yarool (36) and Muhammed Ashraf Abdulla (35), both hailing from Pallikere, Kasargod.
They were arrested at Mangalore Internatonal Airport on Wednesday morning just before their scheduled departure by Air India Express flight number IX383 to Dubai.
Both the passengers attempted to smuggle the foreign currencies out of India without valid money exchange documents, at GBP 3,300 each equal to 654708.04 INR.
