Mangaluru : The Customs officials seized 2.15 kg of gold worth Rs 1.09 crore at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday, January 14.
The two passengers Faizal Thotty Melparamba (37) and Mohammad Shuhaib Mugu (31) Kasargod residents who arrived on a Air India flight IX 1384 intercepted and recovered the gold concealed in paste form in underwear.
Commissioner of Customs, Imamuddin Ahmed, IRS and joint commissioner Joannes George, IRS congratulated the officers of Mangaluru airport customs team lead by Praveen Kandi IRS, deputy commissioner, and officers Shrikanth K, superintendent, Subhendu Ranjan Behera, superintendent, Naveen Kumar, superintendent and others were take part in operation.
