Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport seized 116.5g and 732g of 24 ct purity gold, valued at Rs 6 lakh and Rs 37.7 lakh, respectively in two separate cases of gold smuggling on Thursday.
The 116.5g of gold was seized from a passenger arriving from Dubai. The gold was smuggled in the form of four numbers of small square shaped yellow coloured metallic objects, concealed in the bottom of two tins of dairy cream.
The 732g of gold was seized from a passenger flying to Mangaluru from Dubai. The passenger had concealed the gold in paste form, in his rectum. An investigation is on.
