New Delhi: Central Vigilance Commissioner P. J Thomas is in trouble as Supreme Court has gone against him and BJP has made a demand that the CVC should be sacked and not given any escape route of resignation or replacement. The BJP demand in Rajya Sabha came from deputy leader, S.S Ahluwalia. Media reporters had said that Thomas was asked to resign, as the post was constitutional in authority and only a person with clean hands may occupy it and not an accused.
Ahluwalia quoted Lok Sabha opposition leader Sushma who had given a dissenting note on CVC appointee. There was a 10 year old case in Kerala against Thomas as an accused but both PM and Home Minister had overlooked the situation while appointing him. The name of Thomas was still on the chargesheet, an RTI reply showed. Obviously the Supreme Court was not in favour of his appointment as CVC anymore.
