Mangalore: A Teacher turned serial killer, and a mad maniac known as Cyanide Mohan Kumar appeared in a fast-track court on Monday, Nov 21 to defend himself against charges of murdering several women. He was arrested on 21-10-2009 by Bantwal police.
A missing case of Anitha led to the discovery of 19 other killings. 13 of them were in DK and others in places like Bangalore, Mysore, Hassan and Madikeri.
The CID investigated into these 20 murder cases and submitted a charge-sheet on 20-04-2011. In most of the cases, Mohan took the women around and killed them by giving cyanide.
The cases were taken up by respective district judges. If they are to be taken up only in Mangalore Court, the HC permission is imperative. The CID has not yet given the application to the judiciary to do so.
On Nov 21, only Anitha’s (from Parimar in Bantwal Taluk) case was taken up in the fast track court before Judge Ningana Gowda J., who heard 3 witnesses in the morning session. Cyanide Mohan faced them. 3 More witness were examined in the afternoon. The case will proceed till Nov 26. Two more murder cases come later on.
