Mangaluru : Stating that the law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada has worsened, the BJP staged a day-long dharna here on Monday.
Pitching a tent near the statute of B.R. Ambedkar on the premises of the Town Hall the party leaders, while addressing the gathering criticised the State government.
Speaking on the occasion, Pratapsimha Nayak, president of the district unit of the party, claimed that the district recorded seven murders and 10 attempts to murder last month.
Mr. Nayak alleged that the Congress-led State government was not only in deep slumber, but in coma. He criticised the State government for observing the birth centenary of Tipu Sultan, alleging that Tipu was anti-Hindu and anti-Christian.
Mr. Nayak said that the party would take out Jana Sankalpa Yatra from Kukke Subrahmanya to Kateel from November 13 to 22 to draw the attention of people on the “failures” of the State government. He said meetings would be conducted at 35 places in the district.
