Mangalore : Prof. BM Hegde, President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has described Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts which have a rich cultural tradition, as the cultural capitals of the state.
He was speaking after inaugurating the cultural programmes held in Mangalore on February 19, Tuesday under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and GT Foundation. Continuing, Prof. Hegde regretted the declining interest in fine arts and music in the younger generation. There are instances which prove that music can improve the health of an individual. Dr V Ravichandran, GT Foundation Chairman and Manager of Diya Systems, Dr M Chakrapani, Professor in KMC, Nagaveni, Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan were present.
There was a flute recital by Dr M Chakrapani followed by a dance performance by Aayana V Raman.
